A turn is also known as a grupetto. Say you have a turn written above a C in a C Major piece of music (no sharps or flats). Your notes would be C-D-C-B-C. You play the written note, the note above, back to the written note, down one step, and back to the written note WITHIN THE KEY SIGNATURE. If your key signature was in F Major and had a Bb, your notes would be C-D-C-Bb-C. Depending on the notes you will need to play and the tempo of the piece, using trill fingerings is sometimes helpful.
