First off you need to remove any trim around the wood grain, front and rear marker lights and door lock cylinders if you want to. Next heat up a section of the wood grain with a hair dryer, heat gun or space heater. You want to get the metal hot enough to release the adhesive. Next use a knife or finger nail to get under the edge of the vinyl and slowly peel it back, get as many fingers behind the edge as you can and keep applying heat and gently pulling and eventually it will come off. There is almost a guarantee that it will shred itself like wet newspaper, spend a couple minutes cursing then start picking off the shredded bits still stuck to the metal. Just don't burn yourself.
