As far as I know you must have the Vin number and the radio serial number. Both of these numbers have to be submitted by an authorized VW dealer through VW Hub to get a theft code.
find out the company that was subcontracted to make the radio for VW. It might be a blaupunkt. email them and see if they can send you the code
I just had this same problem with my 1998 VW Jetta. My parking brake light came on one day, but only half illuminated. Shortly after my windshield wipers and headlights stopped working. My radio works but the fans don't work either. I just found a thread which seems to point the problem at the ignition switch: http://car.justanswer.com/volkswagen/6uht-1998-volkswagen-jetta-headlights
remove the radio of the car than it will be a # on the radio call your locar vw service dealer to ask for the code.
No. There is no illumination, speed or retained accesory power in the factory radio. It is accomplished with car's CANbus communication. To hookup illumination wire on 2006 VW Jetta, tap into white/black wire at the light switch. It dims your lights on your radio. You can also set up different color for day and night.

Mine (code) was under the spare tire in the trunk, but also a 97, I believe. Worth looking though!
The 2008 Volkswagen Jetta is a gas-powered vehicle.

The 2008 Volkswagen Jetta is 14 ft. 11.3 in. (179.3 in.) long.

Take your car to the vw dealership and they will give will put the code into your radio, however they will most likely charge you $100 dollars for getting the code for you and putting it in the radio. I see about 3-4 cars a day come in for radio codes so once you get that code keep it in a safe place you might need it again. On my 1996 VW Jetta you must hold down the right seek or scan button until the display blanks out. Then you can enter the unlock code.
