A huge range. A high quality instrument could cost as much as $10,000. A decent Trumpet suitable for a student might be found new for as little as $250 (be very wary of any new trumpet that costs less) or used for as little as $150 or so.

How do you fix a trumpets pink hook?

Honestly, I would say don't fix it. Using the pinky hook promotes holding the trumpet improperly. If you must have it fixed, take it to a repair shop; don't try to fix it yourself.

What happens to a trumpet when you oil it to much?

I play the Horn, which uses completely different valves. However, I did play learn trumpet and I played it for a while a few years ago, so I think I can help you with this. I don't think putting too much oil in your trumpet is going to completely destroy it. I don't recommend knowingly overdoing it, but just put in what you need to fix the problem. If you put in too much, it'll just drip out the bottom of the pistons anyway. As far as I'm aware, any other issues with valves aren't affected by the overuse of oil. Hope this helps! =)

How bad is a dented trumpet?

It depends on how many dents, where they are located, and how deep. Many can be pounded out and the instrument relacqueres. But if there are too many; then you will need to buy a new trumpet!!! Actually it's not as bad as you think. Depending on what part of the trumpet the dent is in, it can be a little trouble; but if the valves move it's not too bad. Any dent anywhere on the trumpet can be fixed, it just depends on the area the dent is located that will determine the price of how much the dent will cost to take out and the brand on the trumpet to determine whether it is worth it or not. For example, a Martin Commitee, Bach Strad, Yamaha Xeno, etc. It would definitely be worth it. Also, older trumpets that may look like pieces of junk but play like Gold.
