just bought one at an auction for$200. It is in excellent condition.
In answer to the person who just bought one in excellent condition at auction for $200.00
A find like that is rare indeed. It says several things about this purchase:
The seller had no idea as to the true value of the item...otherwise bidding would have started at a much higher value; or, your idea of "excellent condition" is light years away from mine; or the others at the auction were totally ignorant of the true value of the item in question; or, you're making the whole thing up.
The true value of a piano if that caliber is ultimately up to the purchaser, of course, but to get things on the right track to begin with, it is well worth several thousand dollars, to start.
If it is a real beauty, perfect, I would guess maybe $500-1000. Pianos are very difficult to move and there's not as much demand for them as there was, say, 50 years ago. If the condition is not perfect, that will take away from the value.
i just had one appraised (always kept up in our home, good condition, original keys, some crazing in finish) by bluebookofpianos.com and they said $7480, which feels low to me.
Baldwin pianos typically have high resale values. A 5'2 Baldwin Baby Grand Piano from the year 2000 would have a resale value of 19,500 dollars.
it would be worth any where between 56,000 and 70,000

Amy Lee, the singer and keyboardist/pianist of Evanescence, uses a Baldwin keyboard in a baby grand piano shell. She also has a Baldwin stand alone keyboard.
baldwin baby grand grand prix paris 1900 and grand prize st louis 1904 what is the value
it is a piano. Yes, someone indicated it is a piano. My question is Why does the Baldwin official website not acknowlege the existence of the M2 model? They only list the M1. Either way, the M model is the smallest grand, at 5'2".
The concert piano doesn't have as nice sound as the baby grand piano.
In dating a Baldwin by serial number, knowing whether it is an upright or grand piano is important, as each of these was serialized separately. In this case, a baby grand with serial 18987 would have been built in 1912.
