I've read somewhere that the 4.7 L V8 chucks out 235 hp @ 4800 RPM. Not very impressive, if you ask me, especially by today's standards. But what makes it cool is the torque (~300 Lb.ft). very cool to drive.
Horsepower ratings for a 1997-98' Jeep Grand Cherokee are as follows: For the basic 6-cylinder Laredo, it's 185 to 190 horsepower with 200 lbs.-ft. torque. For the 8-cylinder Limited 5.2 liter, it's 220 horsepower, with about 275lbs.-ft. of torque: And the 5.9 liter V8 is 245 horses, with 300lbs.-ft. of Torque. 114 bhp @3600 rpm
it depends on what transmission you have. either manual or automatic. I believe the manual is 185-187 hp and the automatic is 190.
The 2007 Jeep Grand-Cherokee's engine produces 235 ft-lbs. @ 4000 rpm.
The 2014 Jeep Grand-Cherokee's engine produces 290 hp @ 6400 rpm.
325hp, 370lb-ft

Will bolt up, but will not shift. The 1998 is controlled differently by the computer.
It must be on the same location as in my 96 Grand Cherokee. Behind the spare tire there is a small door you can open and there you find that module. You got to remove the spare tire to see it.
