The only bands truly bigger than Megadeth are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest. Bands that are debatably bigger or about as big as Megadeth are bands like Linkin Park, System of a Down, Slipknot, Mötley Crüe, and a couple others. Again, those are all debatable. As for album sales, Megadeth is in the top 5 for most albums sold by any heavy metal band. Metallica at 100 million, Iron Maiden at 85 million, Black Sabbath at 70 million, Judas Priest between 50 and 60 million, and finally Megadeth at 50 million.
