They were in high school, around 17 or 18. It was the drummer, guitarist and rapper. There was a singer, but he left, so they got a new singer, the one that is in the band now.

No. Linkin Park never sang "Headstrong". That is a big misconception. Many people still think that Linkin Park did a cover of Trapt's Headstrong. They did not. What you may hear on Youtube and other places is actually Trapt's demo version, the one before the final version on their debut album. You will not find the song on any of Linkin Park's albums, a video of Linkin Park actually singing the song or a statement on any OFFICIAL Linkin Park website saying that they've done a cover. That alone should be proof to anyone that they have not done a cover of the song.

It is said that it went 3x platinum in the U.S. That means it has at least sold over 3 million. However, that is only in the U.S. It sold 1.3 million more universally. It is considered an amazing album getting very high ratings from various reputable magazines and websites.

The song "Wretches and Kings" is from Linkin Park's forth album A Thousand Suns. It quotes Mario Savio, who was an American political activist and a key member in the Berkeley Free Speech Movement. His famous speech "Bodies upon the gears" is added in the start and end of the song. He gave that speech on December 2, 1964.
The paragraph of the speech added in the song is:
"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!"
The song is about the pain of the workers and motivating them to stand and fight as they are made to work repetitively in factories.

There may be multiple reasons why, but that doesn't make it any less depressing. Even though he was and will always be one of the greatest vocalists of all time, Chester had a very disheartening childhood and struggled with drugs and alcohol as a teenager. I listened to Linkin Park 3 times today (that is, 3 of their songs- "From the Inside", "Breaking the Habit", and "Faint"), and unfortunately, you could tell by Chester's lyrics that he wanted to fit in the world as a person and not only as an entertainer. Plus, his parents divorced when he was young and he suffered from really awful abuse that I can't even comprehend. I believe that deep down, Chester was a good guy with a good heart, but sadly in a lot of ways he couldn't make it in life feeling like an outsider.

The song "In The End" is a nu-metal and rap rock genre. The song starts with a unique piano tune by Mike Shinoda. Chester Bennington starts singing with "It starts with..." and then Mike takes over and starts rapping. Through out the rap, Chester comes in from time to time to complete Mike's sentence or to start one. When the first rap ends, Chester starts singing the Chorus.
And then Mike takes over and starts rapping the way he rapped earlier. Chester again keeps popping in from time to time to make things interesting. When the rap ends Chester takes over again to sing the chorus. After that he sings really slowly and then comes back with his famous (screaming) singing! The song ends with the piano by Mike.
It's really a beautiful song. It is even called a classic and the song that defined the new era. You should listen to it once.

It's one of their new songs. I really like it, and highly recomend it, and it's good for any aged person. It also has a hidden messege That everyone's time comes to an end, and that's their Shadow Of The Day. Well, that's what my friend told me anyway. Here are the lyrics - I close both locks below the window
I close both blinds and turn away
Sometimes solutions aren't so simple
Sometimes good bye's the only way
[Chorus]
And the sun will set for you
The sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey
And the sun will set for you
[End Chorus]
In cards and flowers on your window
Your friends all plead for you to stay
Sometimes beginnings aren't so simple
Sometimes good bye's the only way
[Chorus]
And the sun will set for you
The sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey
And the sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey
And the sun will set for you
And the shadow of the day
Will embrace the world in grey
And the sun will set for you
[End Chorus]
