So out of the blue the engine will start to jerk and shutter and I will lose a fair amount of power. I have recently noticed when this is happening that the oil pressure light will flicker randomly, expecially when I am decelerationg and comming to a stop. It almost seems like there is water in the gas but I have added water remover and it still does it. Sometimes when I am having a really bad problem with the jerking I can just turn off the engine for a minute and it will go away; at least for a while. When I bought the truck there was water in the oil but I had it flushed and there is no water since then. I do have a small oil leak but I only go through a quart of oil a month or so.
You can, but the length of the cord changed the power it provides. The longer the cord the greater the power loss.
Higher octane is helpful for high compression engines. High compression causes the combustion to take place faster and can cause pinging and a loss of power. By using high octane with high compression you get the advantage of the extra efficiency of the high compression engine and the delivery of the combustion across the power stroke of the piston, with out pinging.
Did you check the cable that runs from the pedal to the intake? Maybe it could be broken or just simply worn out.
I had this issue on my 2000 Toyota Echo, and I didn't know what was causing it. It went away after my next oil change. Try topping off the oil, or changing the oil, including a filter change.
if this is a differant problem than why you changed the starter in the first place then recheck to make sure all wires are connected if symptoms are the same then:- if the starter is OK (dont assume because its new) and the battery is OK (should read about 12.6 volts)then you must assume that you are suffering from a loss of power down the starter cable or the earth return system. if you know how, then check voltage drop on this cables whilst cranking if not then check all connections to terminal including all the earth conections, do not forget the one from the engine to the chassis. under normal power uses they probably would not cause a problem but because the starter draws alot of current a 0.2 voltage drop across any cable or connection will cause the starter to click (has enough power to throw the pinion in (click) but not enough power to turn the engine. if the battery is reading 12 volts then it is low on charge and will cause similar fault, it should read 12.6volts hope this helps robb
A bad vehicle ground wire can cause intermittent loss of power to your 1998 Nissan. Check the vehicle ground wire to make sure it is tight and free of corrosion.
Check power steering fluid first, then take it to the shop if it is full.
intermittent loss indicates you need a new sensor
Not much information to go on but I would start with changing the fuel filter.
Trouble code P1391 means: Intermittent loss of CMP or CKP
Re-build your diesel. Put on a custom chip and that will make up for engine power loss.
What does reduce engine power means?
I had an intermittent problem like this with an 2004 Optima EX V6. I changed out the fuel pump and it seems to have corrected the problem, but being intermittent, only time will tell.
Just to answer the reply to my question. no there is no smoke at all and there is no signs of oil in the coolant. there dose seem to be oil on the side of the engine around the exaust manifold.. but its not a whole engines worth of oil..
Yes
Oil leakage and loss of compression and power loss.
My idle was running rough and slight loss of power (5 cylinder engine). The power loss is more noticeable on cars with less cylinders.
