There are some adult themes but they go over the heads of most children, as they are merely talked about rather than seen on stage. There are also a couple minor swears. I allowed my nieces (ages between 3 and 10) to watch it. I had to cautiously explain a few things, such as Christine having a child that wasn't her husband's (spoiler!), but everything went fine. As long as you're okay talking to the kids about adult subject matters, then Love Never Dies is perfectly safe for children.

No!! It's not "safe" for anyone! A key song in the show, "Beautiful Underneath" seems to be a direct glorification of homosexual incestuous pedophilia (i.e. a father's overt sexual subversion and seduction of his pre-pubescent son). The plot line 'surface' take of this song is meant simply to portray an unexpected discovery of a familial relationship and a connection between father and son over their mutual interest in the "beautiful underneath".
But the kid crying "yes! yes! yes!" in apparent ecstasy by the end of the song as he discovers "the glory. . . and the splendor. . . and the lift. . . of coming closer. . . to the things [he] knows [he] can't confess; things [he] thirsts for nonetheless" seems a little too close to a semi-hypersexual glorification of pedophilia as the father is elated that "all of [his] most secret dreams [are] somehow set free".
That^^ tribute to gay incestuous child-abusive grossness, coupled with the overt negative themes throughout the rest of the show, including:
- the futility of "love" (if it actually exists, according to the show)
- the apparent lack of loyalty or purity from anyone "pure" or "loyal"
- the symbolic "dead" end of every relationship
. . .not to mention the fact that it retroactively robs the original masterpiece that WAS Phantom of the Opera of virtually ALL of it's original virtue--make this one of the most deplorable musicals of all time.
