When he was alive, he had choreographers for his routines as opposed to being a choreographer himself. As a performer, he would have doubtless picked up a few things and probably could have done his own choreography had he wanted to, but chose instead to hire professionals (among other things, it's hard to tell how something looks to an audience when you're the one doing it).
