Jeep Grand Cherokee rear wiper faults?

Will depend on the year of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Note that some years have a special Jeep-only wiper blade that you have to get at the dealer. See sources and related links below. If there is an aftermarket available, it will list it under the vehicle make, model and year. If no rear wiper is listed for your year and it in fact has a rear wiper, then you have to go to the dealer.

if you remove the plastic cowling under the steering wheel (3 hex screws on bottom and clips that pull out on top) you will find a metal cowling. Remove this by un screwing two hex screws on top, one on each side. The panel will swivel down. Then look to the left side of the opening. There is a black square part with a wire clip on it. This is the part you are looking for.

the blade changes the same as on the front windshield. Word to the wise: don't buy refills for the rear blade, buy full blades. As the rear blade doesnt benefit from wind blowing across it as you drive the pivot points on the blade spring arms deteriorate very rapidly. While you are you are changing the blade (instructions are on the new blade package, its so simple my thirteen yr old daughter has done it by her self) make sure you take the time to use a good permanent oil (NOT WD-40 evaporating types) on the pivot of the wiper arm itself, as this is a known trouble spot, corrosion sets in and the spring can no longer supply enough pressure to keep the blade tight against the window, and windshield washer fluid... a must use item adds to this corrosion. On a side note, remember the hideaway windshield wipers of the mid to late seventies? they suffered from this same loss of pressure. when an engineer working on designs in the wind tunnel realised that the wind actually helped maintain the wiper arms and blades by blowing moisture out of the pivot areas, the hideaway design, just an extension of the hood really, started to make a rapid exit from auto designs.
