My 2006 Grand Cherokee makes a grinding noise when in reverse and turning.It does this more often when the car has been sitting for a while and it is warm out. What could this be?

the question is a little vague. most of the time the noises when turning going slow come from tires hitting a body part at extreme turn angles. also Power Steering pumps make noises when they are low on fluid, the steering wheel is being held past where it needs to be; a common thing you hear alot in parking lots. most of the time if you just relax the steering a little things sound better. hope this is some help.

There is no minimum speed, it has to do with the impact force. If you are sitting still and the impact from another vehicle hitting you is hard enough the airbags will go off.

If the car was sitting for a while and it was damp out, rust forms on the brake rotors. For the first mile or you will hear a grinding noise when braking until the rust has been removed by the brake pads. The longer it has been sitting, the louder it may be. This is normal.
