Assuming you don't mean GRAND Cherokee (which I am not familiar with), there are no ball joints, wheel bearings or tie rods in the rear of a Cherokee. It could be something as simple as your centercap being loose, your break drum needing adjustment (altho I doubt it), loose lug nuts, or even suspension. Take it to a mechanic.
I just did my own ball joints the other day. I paid about $70 each at garage cost here in Canada. I would estimate the labour to be roughly 3 hours times the door rate which varies from shop to shop. Since you have to remove the wheel bearing/hub assy., it might be a good idea to buy a couple of wheel bearings too. There shouldn't be any extra labour charge to replace these since they have to take them off to do the ball joints. And if you really want to spend money you can replace the brake pads and maybe the rotors too......that's right.....since they have to take them off to do the ball joints. Have fun.
full time 4wd model? clicks more in corners? CV joints on the front axle are going bad
I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee and it does the same thing. I called the dealer and they said it is most likely the sway bar link/bushings. I'm going to replace today and hope it works since it's an easy fix.
If they are original they have no grease fittings If they are replacement they will have grease fitting on the side - special fitting for your grease gun will be required (Thinner than normal)
Your hand joints ?
Transfer case pump grinding a hole through the casing, U-Joints, bearings.
Possibly the wheel bearings
Wheel Bearings check your wheel bearings
The shaking might be due to wheel imbalance and the pulling due to poor wheel alignment.
cracknomoreifobia + the phobia of immobility of joints is Ankylophobia
Who diagnoised this as a c/v joint noise? Roaring is wheel beaarings. Clicking while turning is c/v joints. The bearings aren't easy to change.
Wheel bearings or u joints
A clicking noise is not a common sound for a bad ring and pinion or axle bearings. Use electronic chassis ears (denlors ste6600) to help pinpoint the source of the noise. U-joints in the driveshaft could make a clicking noise although it should click or make more noise on acceleration. I know you said it didn't, but listen REALLY carefully, and if it's still there when you are hitting the gas it could be your struts or your wheel bearings.
CV joints make loud clicking noises when the steering wheel is turned while vehicle is moving (usually when accelerating). If you put off replacing them for too long, the bearings will fall out and you will have to pay a tow truck to tow the vehicle. The bearings are marble sized and fit inside the boot - generally when a CV joint goes out, it's because of the bearings.

Try some high dose omega 3 - high dose cod liver oil tablets for your clicking joints - take them for at least a month - but probably 3 and you should notice your joints become more supple!!!
Most of them do have cv joints at the front wheels.
