On your 1989 Chevy Cavalier Z24 converable when you turn the head lights on the dash oard lights to not engauge and the light on the radio turns off How can you fix this problem myself if i even can?

Sounds like your dimmer switch isn't working or it is turned all the way down for night driving.. It has a setting that allows you to turn off the lights on your dash and radio for driving at night. Locate your dimmer switch and see if it is turned down all the way. If not it may have gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Sounds like the lights maybe shorted out. You'll have to trace the wires back to check for damage. Could be a long slow process, good luck.

Well you mean tail lights i think and it has to either they are burnt out or a brake edal sensor is the problem and is stuck

I would check the wires just behind the light. I had the same problem and the wires were broken a little just wiggle them as the lights are on.
