more options , more shapes, we can have more than 6 strings on the guitar , we can have more than two pickups if we want , we can change parts on the guitar if we know what we're doing like clothes. We can add or modify electronics to make the guitar sound more ways than average guitars. they're essentially the same thing as they where in the 50s but we found different ways to build them for different kinds of players like metal or jazz , because what jazz players want metal players may not and so forth this goes far beyond shape and brand as well.
Of course! Here are a handful of metal/heavy rock musicians with a classical background...Randy RhoadsRitchie BlackmoreTarja TurunenJon LordYngwie MalmsteenThere are dozens more; they tend to be the immensely melodic but skilled and fast guitar players, the awe-inspiring keyboard players or the beautiful symphonic metal vocalists.
The order of the strings is reversed. And you can buy left handed guitars. I do agree with your answer the strings are reversed, and yes you can buy some guitars left handed if your lucky enough to find one, and if your lucky enough to find a good one. It's really too bad that even today most big guitar companies continue to punish the lefties. I recently wanted to try out a Warwick bass guitar because I've heard they're a really good. When I inquired about trying one out I was told it would have to be a special order made and bought from the Warwick guitar company because I'm left handed. I said to them but what if I do happen to order one and find I don't like it, then what? And why would anyone buy something without trying it out first? So because I'm left handed I feel like I'm being discriminated against at times just because I'm a lefty. Guitar companies need to step up and get with it and start making their guitars more available for lefties! There are a lot more of us out there then ever!!
plastic,metal and wood

No, you just have to find the guitar that meets your standards. The more popular brands for metal are ESP, Dean, and B.C. Rich.

the mockingbird model is pretty cool. i personally am not into them but a lot of metal players like them. and the craftsmanship is fine
Probably not. It's a bit expensive and is supposed to lean toward intermediate/advanced metal players.

A plectrum is a small piece of either plastic or metal which is using for picking the strings on a guitar. Most players prefer to use them as it saves tearing their fingernails.

20-30$ i've seen them go for on my craigslist if you don't care for brands I highly recommend a Line 6 pod , they are about 80$ and up but you can get 100s of sounds out of them. The 2.0 model or higher I suggest , you get from heavy metal sounds to space sounds ..even country , they are targeted towards many players.
