Electric Guitars are one of the most popular instruments in the world, and as such, have found their way into many music styles. Electric guitars are an essential element of Rock, Metal, Pop, Country, and Blues, and have prominent roles in many other styles from Jazz to Hip-Hop. Classical Music is perhaps one of the only styles of mainstream western music that doesn't regularly feature the Electric Guitar.
It has been used in most styles of music, but is near-ubiquitous in rock and metal.
bass and electric is a good start ...but..
7 or more string electric guitars (Agile to Ibanez)
baritone guitars - they feature longer necks to tune lower
electric acoustic
multi scale guitars
this is a good start , an interesting one to look up is the Line 6 variax guitar to see what 70+ years of innovation has done
You can essentially play any style you want. Taking into account fretboard style, pickups and amp/pedal configuration you can play anything.
Fretboard style effects ease of playing style for example: a guitar with a small neck radius (fret boart is more curved) it is harder to play slide guitar, with a scalloped neck (when the wood between each fret dips, ie Yngwie Malmsteen) it is more difficult for chords to sound in perfect pitch. However, a flat nect is good for slide and classical/spanish guitar and a scalloped neck is great for sweep picking and arppegios.
Depending on your amp and the pedals you have you can imitate a clean classical sound or even with a solid body electric you can imitate a good hollowbody blues or rockabilly sound. When it comes to amps and pedals however, the key word is "imitate." You can get a near perfect classical tone on an electric but it will never be as nice as a good classical guitar.
depends on what style you play , if you play something like a spanish guitar scale with no distortion you'll get one sound but say a Phrigian scale which is totally different with a lot of reverb and distortion you'll get this sound.
look up the JTV-89 by Line 6 or the Gibson Dusk tiger to see how diverse electric guitars can be in terms of sound.
Rock, blues, grunge, metal, pop, alternative, jazz....and subgenres of these. Every once in a while its used in hip hop but that is rare.
Alot! Rock, Metal, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Funk . It can be even used in rap and hiphop really.
There are many types of guitar effects and volume pedals. The cable from the guitar is plugged into the jack marked IN and another cable is plugged into the one labled OUT and then plugged into the Amplifier.

deosent need electric..
The difference between an electric guitar and an air guitar is a electric guitar is an actual guitar and an air guitar is imaginary. An air guitar is when people pretend to play a guitar with hand movements. An electric guitar converts vibrations of its steelcorded strings into electric current. These currents then go to a amplifier to make them louder.
Yes. The first electric guitar was on the market in 1932, the first electric bass guitar was on the market in 1935.

There are many different types of guitars, some would have to be the 12-stringed guitar, the Mexican Jarana, the South American Charango, the metal-strung guitar, the Cello guitar, the Hawaiin guitar(Ukulele), the electric guitar, the acoustic guitar and the electric-acoustic guitar.
There are many different types of electric guitars, and they are made with a variety of materials, including plastic.
The big difference between these types of guitar is that an electric is much quieter than an acoustic. In a high school class full of teenagers a student with an electric guitar will not be able to be heard by the teacher. This is a BIG detriment to one's progression with the instrument. Most classes require an acoustic guitar but technically you can still learn in a group setting with a quieter electric guitar.
