Truman advocated a continuation of New Deal liberal policies. Among his goals was Civil Rights protections, health insurance, welfare an labor reform, aid to education and housing, aid for veterans and farmer, and infrastructure improvements including more power plants. Unfortunately for Truman, Congress had turned a bit more conservative, and few of these policies were implemented.
