What do you do if your aftermarket radio wiring harness does not match the factory wires?

Many aftermarket companies sell adapters for aftermarket wire harnesses. They have the original factory harness at one end and you cennect that to the harness that came with the radio. Check your local car audio installer.

if this is like my 89 don't worry about the diagram if you don't have the amp. This is wrecking yard material. Find that car in a wrecking yard and then get the amp and the wiring harness and clip the harness so you have enough wire to splice the same colors together. Radio Shack has match melt solder strips and heat shrink tubing to make the splicing easy. Or at this point probably cheaper to just rewire the whole stereo system with an aftermarket system And if your thinking about using a mark 7 factory amp for somthing else you wasting your time most normal head units produce as much power as that, your question is a little unclear i guess is what im trying to say.

FIRST REMOVE THE TRIM PIECE THAT RUNS AROUND THE WHOLE DASH. IT POPS OUT, BUT BE GENTLE ENOUGH NOT TO BREAK IT BECAUSE IT IS PLASTIC. THEN ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE OF DELCO RADIOS THERE ARE TABS THAT YOU PUSH DOWN AND IT RELEASES THE RADIO. PULL THE RADIO STRAIGHT OUT. YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE ANTENNA PLUG FROM THE BACK OF THE RADIO AND THE WIRING HARNESSES FROM THE BACK OF THE RADIO. FOR A NORMAL DIN RADIO REPLACEMENT YOU WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE AN ADAPTOR KIT FOR THE OPENING. YOU CAN PURCHASE THESE AT ANY STEREO SHOP OR WAL-MART, OR RADIO SHACK. YOU WILL ALSO NEED TO PURCHASE THE ADAPTOR WIRING HARNESS TO FIT YOUR VEHICLE SO YOU DONT HAVE TO SPLICE ALL OF THE WIRING TOGETHER. MATCH THE WIRING FROM YOUR REPLACEMENT RADIO TO THE WIRING HARNESS AND MOUNT THE RADIO IN THE ADAPTOR KIT. INSTALL THE RADIO INTO THE OPENING AND PLUG ALL OF THE WIRING BACK TO THE FACTORY PLUGS. REPLACE THE TRIM RING BACK ONTO THE DASH AND YOUR DONE. ABOUT AN HOUR TO DO EVERYTHING IF YOU HAVE EVERYTHING READY TO GO. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

what about it? pretty vague question. if installing and aftermarket stereo then you can get the adapter harness at a best buy or circuit city, and sometimes even wal mart. your local auto parts store should also have or be able to get them. or you can go to onlinecarstereo.com. if reinstalling a factory head unit look to see if you have an adapter in there that can simply be unplugged. if not get the connector from a junk yard and solder it in, being sure to match the colors properly.
