What fender does paul McCartney play?

Paul McCartney is mostly associated with a Hofner semi-acoustic bass which he played through most of his Beatles career and continues to play to this day. It is, in fact, the same guitar and has the play list for The Beatles last concert taped to it. He picked this guitar as it was fairly easy to convert for left-handed use.

In the studio, Paul also uses Fender and Rickenbaker bass guitars and an upright bass which was once owned by Elvis Presley's bass player Bill Black.

In addition to his trusty Vox bass amps which he's used since his Beatles days he also uses an Ashdown ABM900 EVO II Twin Bass Amplifier Head, distiguisable from the EVO III by the absence of an extra knob in the middle. You can see it perched atop an Ashdown 4 x 10 cab in the YouTube vid where he teaches you how to play his song Ever Present Past as well as atop a 2x10 1x15 ABM BP1510TX in various SNL appearances. He has also used a Fender Bassman in the Abbey Road Sessions. In the film you can see he's taken the Bassman plaque off the amp and stuck it on his famous Hofner bass. Hope that helps.
