Well, most saxophones (depending on the color) can range from 200-5000 depending on where you get it. I got my black/gold Tenor Saxophone off of eBay for only $350 and it was brand new. Look online more than in the stores, it's way cheaper.
Most good saxes aren't cheap. Great saxes can range into 7 or 8 thousand dollars. The best cheap sax I can recommend is R.S. Berkeley. Sherman Irby, a lead sax player in the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchastra With Wynton Marsalis, plays an R.S. Berkeley Virtuoso alto sax.
