The only thing is to disconect engine mounts and jack engine up macking sure that nothing is going to get damaged up top in engine bay and maybe you will have room to remove the sump. or you maybe able to get a hellie coil fited to the sump to create a new thread.
Why not just remove the plug? I had the same problem on my 99. Go buy a new plug and use a good pair of vice grips to remove the plug. Change the oil and filter. Bang put the new plug in and finish up.
think you can also have it retread. that's what they did to mine
on a 1990 Cherokee it is passenger side, halfway down the radiator, best way to get to it is remove the grille. The Jeep Cherokee radiator drain plug is plastic and very fragile. You should remove the lower radiator hose to drain the cooling system.
yes if the plug is the same
Standing in front of the jeep, it's at the very back of the engine, on top, next to the distributor, on the left. It should have a wire plug on top. you will need a special tool to remove the sensor, being careful not to break the wiring plug (remove the wiring plug first).
On the differential there should be a plug with a 3/8 or 1/2 inch square on it that you can use a socket wrench to remove, just stick your finger in and feel if there is fluid. If there is no fluid, fill to that level.
The plug or sensor above the oil filter on a 1996 Cherokee is the oil pressure sending unit. This sensor controls the oil pressure gauge.
kill your self
Probably just the gasket on the plug (if it's tight). Make sure the plug isn't stripped.
The transmission does not have a drain plug. You have to remove the oil pan to drain.
disconnect battery. remove the belt, remove the plug in the back, remove the bolts holding it on. then reverse procedure.
You will have to remove the pan completely by undoing all the bolts and then once the oil pan (sump cover) is removed, it is a simple matter to remove the plug, retap/rethread the hole and replace the plug with a new one.
How do u fix a stripped out oil pan
you have to remove the coils off of each spark plug, than under the coil is the plug.Remove the plug as any other plug.
Could be that the threads are stripped on the plug or the head where the plug is screwed in. Or maybe it's the wrong plug..
best bet, get yourself a good pair of vise grips (locking plyers). If you do not own a pair, you local auto parts store or Home center sells them. If you can not get them off with vise grips, you will have to take it to you local mechanic. Have somebody WELD a rod onto the stripped plug & use that 2 turn it -- then throw the rod & plug away & put in your new drain plug with a new gasket for the plug.

If the spark plug is stripped, replace it, if the hole in the cylinder head is stripped, the first thing to do is run a tap or thread chaser through the hole, if that does not work, you will need a helicoil http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helicoil
If the standard socket does not fit, ( 5/8 ) then try and find another size to fit, even metric. This is the best to do, other wise, you will have to remove the head.
