depending the the 'solo' you are going for, most people who ask this are into hard rock or metal. The most commonly used Guitars used for long, fast and complicated solos tend to have 24 frets with a thin neck. It all comes down to personal preference for the fret size but good guitars for those 'speedy' solos are the Jackson range of Randy Rhodes, Soloist, Dinky 2s, Kerry Kings. Also good are Ibanez (they have a huge range of guitars, too many to mention). ESP, Shecter (Although i find their necks to be to thick and rounded), Music Man, Dean (personal favorite). Not to forget you can pull off good 'solos' with other top brand guitars such as Fender and Gibson.
Go to your local music shop and play around until you find a personal favorite. Just remember, it is YOUR opinion that matters, if you like the feel and sound of the guitars, it doesn't matter what anyone else says.
Anything by Van Halen, Sultans of swing by Dire Straits, Crazy train by Ozzy Osbourne and Pride and joy by Stevie Ray Vaughn. Any songs you like that sound like they have good solos would also be good to learn.

By far, the best Silversun Pickups song is Catch and Release.
For solos and single preformances
It basically switches between pickups. Depending on what position it is in determines what pick up is on. Assuming you have a two pickup guitar, the treble position would mean the bridge pickup is on, if it is in the middle position it means both pickups are on, and if it is in the rhythm position it means only the neck pickup is on.
super distortion

In the plural, it's solos.
The number of pickups depends on what sound the player likes. For playing jazz, I like 2 double pickups. My rhythm guitar has 2 singles, but 1 single would be fine for me in rhythm playing.
Ya, Ebay or my brother.
The best place to get acoustic guitar pickups is at a music store. Some music stores that sells this kind of pickups include Sound of Music, Guitar Center, and Musician's Friend.
If you are writing a piano solo for a girl that likes you she will like it. If you are good at writing piano solos she will like it as long as she likes that type of music. She might like it anyway. If she does not like you and you aren't the best at writing solos then it depends on her personality.
