this is an interesting answer

so ok when you want strings to last longer go with heavier gauge (size) strings , they will also last longer from abuse of the picks to just rusting over time from playing. 12-52 or 13-56 being heavy gauge , but if you've never played heavy gauge and tune to standard go with a 10-52 set like metallica or megadeth would use so you get not only a versatile set of strings but you also get the low strings staying in tune longer.

brand wise? any name brand , D'Addario , Ernie Ball , GHS , Dunlop , DR ...ect Fender super bullets are the only strings I don't recommend.

more tips for keeping your guitar in tune from 10 years of playing and being an aspiring guitar builder on the side.

new guitar tuners will make a world of difference - grover for example. I had cheap guitar tuners on a guitar for 6 months and than finally had enough money to take the old ones off and put some 18:1 grover rotomatic guitar tuners and i tune monthly.

some people will say a new nut

a properly floating floyd rose if you've got one

You put your guitar strings on the wrong tuning pegs does it matter?

Yes. If you wind the strings improperly it matters. Strings should be wound from the string hole down, (from high to low, or from the hole to the neck). If you do it the other way around, the tuning peg has more stress on it, and is more likely to not stay in tune. Never put more stress on the guitar neck or the headstock than you have to. You will stay better in tune for longer if you string properly.

When should you replace guitar strings for an electric guitar?

The best way to keep guitar strings fresh is to play a little on them every day. This will also keep your guitar body in good tension, meaning that strings will sound brighter, stay in tune better, and last longer. It is a good idea to keep a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe your strings with gently (to remove moisture and skin oils) after playing - though I admit I am pretty sloppy about this. For a leisure player (less than an hour a day) who doesn't perform changing your strings every other year is probably adequate. You will see a benefit from changing your strings more often, of course (I have friends who restring every six months as a matter of course), but if you are just playing for fun - restringing is such a drag. If you perform, you should change your strings whenever they lose their sparkle. How often this is will depend on your ear, and your playing style; but if you use fewer than two sets of strings per year your standards are probably lower than they should be.

Why wont your guitar strings stay in tune?

because they expand after a while and tends to get loose --------------------- That is normal when you put new strings on your guitar, in just a while they should hold tune quite well unless your guitar neck is warped or some other damage to the guitar. If other people play your guitar or if it gets moved alot it is easy to bump the tuning keys and untune the guitar.

Are rogue guitars good?

Yes and no. They are very cheap. Have amazing sound quality and stay in tune for long periods of time. They are great for beginners or as a back up guitar. Although the Martin strings that come it makes the guitar sound horrible so I would recommend buying a new set of strings. The action is pretty high also but you can take it down if you wanted to. Other than that I love mine and would highly recommend it especially for someone who has a low budget.

Why doesn't the guitar stay in tune?

Because Fender puts very cheap tuning machines on the Starcaster guitars. It is very simple to replace them. You can find replacements at any on line music store or alot of local guitar shops carry them.Be careful because you must get tuners that say 6 in a line for them to work on your guitar.

What gets out of tune faster electric guitar strings or acoustic guitar strings?

In my opinion, electric guitar strings gets out of tune faster because the strings are not as thick as acoustic guitar strings. So, thicker strings make it stay in tune longer.

Can guitar strings snap by room temp?

If an instrument is taken from an extremely cold or hot temperature and quickly exposed to room temperature, it is possible.

Can you replace steel strings on your guitar with nylon strings?

If you try replacing the strings by using original nylon stings, you will not be able to,because it does not have a ball at the end of the strings, therefore it will not stay in position. There are nylon strings which are made with a ball end,you can use these strings on an acoustic guitar. If you can get them fitted, there should not be a problem. There will be a difference in sound. And be aware that it is not a good idea to replace nylon strings with steel strings, as they place more stress on the guitar neck and can result in breaking the guitar.

Are elixir strings good?

They are rated highly in the guitar community. They sound good, and typically last longer and are more expensive than other popular brands like D'addario and Ernie Ball. They are also protected against rust. HOWEVER, for some reason the G string often breaks right out of the package. This has happened to me and a couple of my friends. For that reason alone, I would stay away from this faulty product.

What acoustic guitar strings professional use?

Unless they're endorsed it usually says. I like Dean Markley ones, but as long as they last and stay in tune you can be using the cheapest and it won't make much difference after the first week or so sound wise.AnswerSoloist/bands use whatever they are paid to use. Session musicians tend to be more selective; they chase their signature sound. And strings that sound good on one setup could sound flat and dull on another; good on an ibi, sad on a tele. Time and choice will find the best for you.

How do you I get my Paul Reed Smith SE guitar to stay in tune?

For all guitars it is best to not bang the guitar around, obviously for the reason not to damage it, but also to try and keep it in tune. If you have lessons, ask your teacher to tune it up every time you go, or alternitavely, buy and electric tuner from a music shop.

Which electric guitar package should you buy?

If I was to learn again I'd make my own package , usually on craigslist or some used guitar site if you live in a big city you can do a lot with say 200$. a used guitar will be as low as 50$ with or without a case a cheap amp - 25$ and up a processor - it's like a guitar pedal but smarter , it can download rockstar sounds and give you over 100 effects and professional amplifier simulations. Plus it has a good guitar tuner. - 75$ and up , I suggest the line 6 pod at a local guitar shop buy two guitar cables , one for the guitar to processor , than the processor to the amp , that and some brand new guitar strings. Just stay away from floyd roses.
