According to sources on the internet, you can also use lamp oil. I haven't tried this so I can't recommend it. but what you don't want to do is used things like wd40 or three in one oil. These vechile oils have penetrating fluid properties and can cause damage to corks and felts and are generally much more poisonous than branded trumpet oils.
