You should have the radio's code when you bought the vehicle NEW. The dealer can provide you with the code for FREE only if the radio originally came with the car OR if you can provide the VIN # of the vehicle where the radio was taken out from ... The radio's Serial# should match the vehicle's VIN #. Otherwise, the dealer will have to do a research and they'll charge you for it ... BIG BUCKS ... but the dealer should be able to help you provide the code. The alternate way without spending any bucks is do it the old fashioned way. Get a 12V transformer and enter the codes by trial and error. It locks after every third try so, to unlock, disconnect power after every series of three tries for about 3 sec to clear the memory then power it back on again. It's repeatitious and boring but you want to save some bucks, don't you? So make a list from 0001 to 9999 and start crossing out codes that don't work. You can do 10 today, 25 tomorrow, etc... I did mine in 6,973 combination tries and mine has 5-digit code (Honda). Mitsubishi i think has only 4-digit. So you have less work to do.........

Hi have same problem my Montero 2001 serial 99F60514 model MR563520
there are several codes. none of them are the same. you have to get the code from your local dealer...
yes this is the irfomation for my radio
It is a 5 digit code. If you cannot find the code written down somewhere in the vehicle or owner's manual then you have but one choice. Go back to the selling dealer and hope they kept a record of the code. If not, you must get the serial # off the radio chassis. With that serial # the Honda dealer can tell you the code. You will have to remove the radio to see the serial #.
You might check owners manual, it is a hand written four digit code. Or you have to pull the radio and get serial # and manufacturer
Call the 1-800 of Mitsubishi Co. they will ask for the serial no. of the radio/ cassette player and they will give you the code.

first, is it a Mitsubishi Motors stereo? Where did you get the radio code? If you still have the card key with the radio code on it check all the numbers and try again. It should work. If you looked up the radio code using the serial number from the radio itself (stamped on deck itself you have to pull dash panel to get at radio) check the serial number, check code and try again. Make sure you are starting at the right preprogram buttons when inputting code.
sorry, nobody on here can help you. you need to contact your dealer, give them the serial number from the back of the radio, and they can give you the code. have you looked in your glove box for this? most of the time theres a sticker in the glove box or owners manual with the code or serial number marked on it.
No there is no code on the serial number, you would have to get the code from the dealer with the serial number on the radio.
Me too want to know how!!! I changed battery on my 2001 montero and stunned to see need to enter code on radio in order to work. that is sucks!!!
i need to know how to set the radio when you battery goes dead and the radio says code its a 2001 mits monyero sports.
call you local Mitsubishi dealer service dept. with the serial and model number and they will give it to you they might ask for the vin number in some cases to make sure the stereo is actually yours and not stolen
If you cannot find the code either written down in your owner's manual or on a small card, then you have to get the serial # off the radio. With this serial # the dealer can provide you with the code. The serial # is more than likely located on the back of the radio. You may possibly be able to use a dental mirror to see it without removing the radio. The radio does not need fixing. It just needs the code to operate.AnswerTo get to the serial number - First remove the consul by removing the two screws located underneath the radio. Just go to the edges of the radio and follow it down going underneath the dash. You will need a small Philips head as there isn't much clearance especially on the left side. You can then pull away the plastic exposing the radio itself. The serial number is right there on the left.
