Atomised rain is rain accelerated to the point where it splits into much smaller droplets as a result of high velocity winds. According to a late Itv1 program broadcast on 08/05/12, it only forms in the vicinity of a tornado, and feels like a thousand tiny needles b.

In common rail direct injection (DICOR) engine used in multicylender & main function is to provided the fuel in equal amount of in all cylender & the pressure of the fuel is high for atomised (Vaporized) the fuel & these atomised the fuel is reduces the knoking problem.Regarding this high pressure is use.
It is when an object or substance is changed into very fine particles. For example. A liquid in an aerosol can, is said to have been atomised when the can emits the liquid as a very fine spray.

The Injector nozzle consists of a needle valve and a series of fine orifices in the nozzle tip. Its task is to inject fuel in an atomised spray pattern and distribute it into the combustion space.
Diesel fuel is ignited by a combination of heat and compression. The heat is caused by the very high compression in the cylinder. The fuel also has to be very finely atomised to be able to burn.
A carburetor mixes air and fuel in appropriate proportions. Air and Liquid fuel are the inputs to the carburetor at different points of the carburetor. Due to suction created by the working engine , atmosperic Air is accelerated through the venturi in the carburetor. Accelerating Air sucks Fuel into the venturi at its center from a level regulated liquid fuel pot in the carburetor, due to the venturi action. (Bernoulli's Principle) During the process of sucking the fuel is atomised /becomes a mist , as it enters the venturi. The atomised fuel then evaporates and mixes with the air uniformly. This uniform gaseous mixture of fuel and air is the out put of the carburetor. This gaseous mixture then enters into engine cylinders for combustion.

Carburettors don't have timing. A carb will only add a proportional amount of atomised fuel to the air that is drawn into the engine, either "naturally" through the action of the pistons, or forced in by the help of turbos or superchargers. You can however adust the fuel/air mixture in a carburetor.
