The first "Clarinet" was created around the turn of the 18th century, in Germany by J. Denner (father or son not known for sure). But the clarinet developed from a Baroque instrument called the chalumeau, similar to the recorder but with a single reed mouthpiece similar to that of the modern clarinet and a cylindrical bore.

The clarinet evolved from an earlier instrument called the chalumeau, the first true single reed instrument. Johann Christoph Denner of Nuremburg invented the first clarinet in 1690 which has been modified over time.

The Clarinet came from a folk instrument called the chalumeau. This instrument had significantly less capability than the modern clarinet. It's range resembles that of the clarinet's lower register.

Anyway, someone along the way (there are numerous arguments as to who), somebody added a register key to the clarinet. This made the instrument more nimble and increased it's range. This lead to it's use as a barnyard instrument that was used much like the Electric Guitar is used in today's society.

Eventually it accumulated keys and because part of the standard orchestral instrumentation around the time of Mozart.

Why not? The orchestra of the time lacked instruments of a similar tone.

What bone was the first clarinet made out of?

While an ancient clarinet-like instrument made from a sheep or goat thigh bone has been found, it was not a true clarinet. It would probably be classifed as a primitive chalumeau - a shepherds instrument that lacks the clarinet's upper register. (The clarinet was developed as a modification of the chalumeau.) Primative chalumeaus were more commonly made of cane, and the few surviving baroque chalameaus were typically made from wood. The bone instrument was not typical, and was probably not the even the first chalumeau.
