To watch a jazz band play one could visit a Jazz Music club such as 'Andy's Jazz Club', 'Green Mill' and 'The Velvet Lounge'. One can watch videos of jazz performances on YouTube.
As far as I know, I haven't seen a single clarinet in a jazz band (sure in a marching band, but not in jazz). My friends who play clarinet are also in the jazz band, but intead of playing their clarinets, their switch/use saxophones instead. So, no, I don't think clarinet is a jazz instrument.

So-called Dixieland jazz is a journalist coined tag given to bands that play in the in the style of the early, black New Orleans bands but the name derives from the first white jazz band to record which was the Original Dixieland Jazz Band. Hence the term is usually, though not exclusively, applied to white bands that play in that style. However, in Europe, bands who play in this style are referred to as revivalist bands. "Dixieland" is pretty much an American term.
