Sir Francis Drakes' first voyages were slave trading expeditions to the West Indies. He then sailed around the world beginning in 1577 and landing in Brazil, Tierra del Fuego on the tip of South America, the island of Cano off Mexico, a place he named Nova Albion, which may have been northern California or Vancouver Island, Canada. He then headed out into the Pacific Ocean, passing by Indonesia, the Indian ocean, and the Cape of Good Hope back to Plymouth, England.
