Some people claim to find 5 digit radio codes inside the glove box, inside the drivers door, in the owners manual...but I didn't finds any codes pasted anywhere.
I needed to locate the serial number of my unit and go to my Honda dealer with proof of ownership. It is on a sticker at the bottom of the radio about 2 inches back of the face place of the radio.
To pull out enough to read the serial number:
Remove the glove box screws and set glove box aside. Starting with the screw facing the door on the passenger side of the dash, remove the rest of the screws and pull to release tabs. Remove the small trim piece at the bottom of the center stack (4 screws). With these trim pieces pulled away, the hidden screws in the center stack are revealed. Unscrew these along with the visible screws. Remove the screws in the trim piece above the drivers knees, and pull away. Remove hidden screws from center stack trim and pull away. Uncouple the connecting harness for the cigarette lighter and climate controls. The center stack cover can pull away. Like the other trim pieces, it may require a pull. The radio is connected by Phillips screws approx an inch back from the front, approximately the middle of the unit. There is an access hole to remove the screws on both sides. Pull out to read serial number, a second person with a flash light helps.

Honda Accord 1998 radio code error 1?
means the anitheft kicked in. It happened to me when we changed the battery in my 1998 Honda accord lx. It does this so when someone steals your radio they can't use it, not that it works that well cause you can just call in the serial number on the radio and get the 5 digit code.Which is what your going to have to do. take out the radio and get the code cause the dealer will charge you a 99$ labor fee. You need the 5-digit code for the radio. The system locks when power has been disabled or the radio removed from the vehicle. Call a MB dealership. I have the same problem with my '99 SLK230. I know the code too. The book says if power has been interupted and the code has been entered incorrectly more than 3 times, the system will lock itself out. However, the book also says that once the radio is on again it should reset itself in 10 minutes or so. I have let my car run with the radio turned on for more than 30 minutes and it didn't reset so I could enter the code. Now, does anyone know how to fix this?

If you dismount (unbolt) both the buckle and the belt portions from the '99 and substitute them for the matching pieces on an '03, they will be compatible.

If you are unable to find your radio code or serial number in the glove compartment, then you will be instructed to take all the dash panels off (hours of labor) or pay someone about $50 to do it. OR - you can take out the center vents, grab a small mirror (avail at your local auto store on a nice little stick thing) and READ IT! Less than a minute of work. It's best to get the vent off by taking a flat head between the bottom of the vent and the edge of the panel. They don't make this info well known and your dealer will just want you to bring it in to pay them.
