Where he wants to be. In December 2008 Hamish Richardson from BROTHER - aka hamish, hamish of BROTHER, BROTHERhamish and the mudBROTHER - marked the second anniversary of his last show with the band by watching a big, round, yellow moon through tall gum trees as it rose over the Pacific Ocean. After fifteen years of relentless touring with the mongrel lads of BROTHER Hamish retired to the quiet life on the South coast of NSW, Australia where he says he is enjoying "growing veggies, planting trees, body surfing, making school lunches" and being part of his community. With his wife, Tina Broad, who runs Australia's national Music-Play for Life campaign (encouraging Aussies to make more music), Hamish heads the MUD Music Council. Under the music council umbrella the two arrange music workshops, promote music matinee performances for local school students featuring headline touring acts, and create the music program for the month-long Escape artFEST. Together the couple also head the Glorious MUDsingers - a 50-piece gospel choir, renowned for its 'hellishly good gospel.' Hamish has been caught performing the occasional 'under the radar' solo show since he stopped touring with BROTHER and says his didg and Bagpipes "never get too cold." He plays his guitar by the fire on chilly winter evenings as new songs reveal themselves. An album is threatened. In his spare time Hamish Richardson from BROTHER is working as a freelance journalist, writing for the Milton-Ulladulla Times. "This is the first time my girls have ever had me home without a departure date looming. I love being a gypsy, and I love making music with those blokes (in BROTHER). But I also love being home - it's been very good for my soul." Where is Hamish Richardson from BROTHER?.... Right where he wants to be.
