If it is a 6 Cly. the most likely location is at about 11:00 on the bell housing looking forward.
Very hard to get to and drooped bolts may end up in your transmission bell housing. Magnetic sockets and small hands advised.
Most likely it is in the power distribution box located on the passenger side of the engine compartment just aft of the battery. Open the cover, there is a diagram on the underside of the cover.
11: No crank signal to computer. Fault in wiring between crankshaft position sensor (CPS) and ECM ( PCM or computer ) or faulty CPS.12: Battery disconnected. Battery or power to the ECM disconnected in the last 50 key cycles.66: TCM to PCM failure. No message from the Transmission Control Module (TCM) to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
Crank sensor is on the driver side of the bell housing, Cam sensor is in the distributor. Computer is mounted to the inner fender.
The crank sensor is located on the top of the bell housing on the drivers side.
on the crank near the back of th motor you will have to pull the crank out of the motor inorder to change the wheel i have a 2000 gc and just had to do this it is not an easy task
The ignition module uses the crank sensor to decide when to spark.
That year did not have 1. It uses a crank sensor and cam sensor
Replace your control module.
The crank sensor is on the top driver side of the bell housing.
In the underside on the far left
it does not have a crank position sensor. it uses the ignition control module as a crank sensor. it is in the distributor cap
in a toilet
Most likely it is in the power distribution box located on the passenger side of the engine compartment just aft of the battery. Open the cover, there is a diagram on the underside of the cover.
Assuming you mean crank position sensor, it tells the ignition control module the position of the crankshaft so the module can tell the correct coil to fire at the correct time.
If you have a 2.2 engine ( 4 cyl. ) it is located under the ignition module at the back of the engine . Follow the plug wires to the coils, under the coils is the module under that is the crank sensor.
My 97 Grand Cherokee was doing the same thing. Replacing the computer was the answer after being at 2 different dealers, two times each, I figured it out myself when they couldn't. Also called ECU (engine control unit) or PCM (powertrain control module)
Usually a crankshaft sensor is located on the bellhousing of the transmission
