"Kembang Semangkuk" or (malva nut) is a seed/fruits og big log trees known as (scientific name) scaphium macropodum and scaphium lychnophorum.
Other name for this tree are : Selayar, Thilaung , samrung,thibyu,shaw, thau-thinbaw(Myanmar), kembang semangkok, kapas-kapasan (Indonesia)
The pod contains "Kembang Semangkuk" seeds.

The Kembang Semangkuk seed size is about thumb size.

When soaked in water it starts to expand and the Malay name for it is buah kembang semangkuk. The Hokkiens call it pong tai hai. Taste-wise, it is like the snow fungus. When it expands, it really spreads.
