"Kembang Semangkuk" or (malva nut) is a seed/fruits og big log trees known as (scientific name) scaphium macropodum and scaphium lychnophorum.

Other name for this tree are : Selayar, Thilaung , samrung,thibyu,shaw, thau-thinbaw(Myanmar), kembang semangkok, kapas-kapasan (Indonesia)

The pod contains "Kembang Semangkuk" seeds.

It will opened when matured.

The Kembang Semangkuk seed size is about thumb size.

Diameter 1.5cm - 3cm.

When soaked in a bowl of water for about half hour, will pop out, producing jelly type fibre.

This jelly will occupy whole bowl space (pluff & open to fill the whole bowl space).

In Hokkien (Tai hoi lam) Tai hoi lam is an olive-like dried fruit.

When soaked in water it starts to expand and the Malay name for it is buah kembang semangkuk. The Hokkiens call it pong tai hai. Taste-wise, it is like the snow fungus. When it expands, it really spreads.

As for "Getah Anggur"...

Here are the brief explaination;

Jelly-like katira or getah anggur (olibanum gum resin)
