ALL Amati saxophones were/are made in the Czech Republic (formerly Czechoslovakia). There are rumours that they subcontract to Asia, like almost everyone else. However, if you look at the neck receiver on every sax made after around 1985...you will see it is stamped CZ or Czechoslovakia. Before then the Czech stamp was found below the serial number on the body.
Also, they really do not resemble asian horns at all....they are a straight pedigree from when the company began in the 1920's. I believe that they are mistaken for asian-made because their prices are so reasonable.
The company still produces from Kraslice (aka Grazlitz).
