Cymbals were first used in the early civilization of Mesopotamia about 5,000 years ago. Around that time, Metalworkers had discovered that they could make their tools stronger by mixing copper with a little tin, an alloy they called bronze. This Turkish bronze was first used for military and religious purposes, but gradually began to be used for Musical Instruments. By 1300 A.D., the Turks were becoming very proficient at cymbal making, and the cymbal had become a fixture in their music.

What is set of cymbals called?

U have your high-hat (that's the two cymbals with a foot pedal), then there is the crash cymbal, normally they're around 16 to 20 inches, then the large ride cymbal (used for a lot of metal and jazz drumming), there are also china cymbals and splash cymbals. China cymbals are a harsh sounding effect cymbal that basically look like they are inside out and splash cymbals are a very small sized cymbal used for effects as well.Hope this helped.

Is wuhan or meinl better in cymbals?

Meinl is generally much better than wuhan. Meinl makes more high end cymbals rather than the low end cymbals wuhan makes. Wuhan has a fairly good china for cheap though. DO NOT buy Meinl's HCS series cymbals, they are bad low end cymbals and might sound good at first but they quickly get old and sound terrible.
