The leader of The Beatles changed through their history. As the founder of the band, John Lennon was widely seen as the leader in their early days - until Ringo joined the band (around 5 years after the band started), Lennon was also the oldest member by over a year.

In the recording studio, Paul McCartney tended to be more "in charge" of the band. After they stopped touring in 1966, he became more the leader of the band - this caused some resentment from the other Beatles.
