No. In fact, I can't find any model 336 Marlins made prior to 1948. There should be a one or two letter code if it was manufactured between 1948 and 1968. I believe a Marlin with a serial number starting with 24 was made in 1976, but can't find my reference for that right now. I believe 1976 is the correct year. Here is a web site that I have used to get manufacture dates for my Marlin. http://oldguns.net/cgi-bin/f2f/f2f.pl?http://oldguns.net/q&a1_05.htm

Maker of inexpensive boy's rifles. Did you have a question?
Clarence Hamilton made the first Daisy in 1895 in the Plymouth Iron Windmill Co, Plymouth Mi. However he is not the first person to make Air guns. Lewis and Clark also had an air gun on their journey across the country to the Pacific. Before that the Austrian army had air rifles in 1779 that were designed by B Girandoni, these rifles fired a 51 caliber ball as large as a mans thumb.
