It's not clear that Lennon particularly liked skiffle music, but skiffle music was quite easy to play and could be played with cheap instruments - a typical skiffle band was guitar, soapbox bass (made from a wooden box, a broom handle and some string) and a washboard. Because it was so cheap, many skiffle groups started up in the late 1950s. Lennon's band was one of these.
Aged sixteen, singer and guitarist John Lennon formed the skiffle group The Quarrymen with some Liverpool schoolfriends.
Mostly skiffle and bluesy type stuff.
Before The Beatles were called The Beatles, they were known as The Quarrymen. It originally consisted of just John Lennon and several friends, but George Harrison and Paul McCartney joined later. They played skiffle music, which is a type of folk music with blues, jazz, and country influences. Skiffle is often considered a precursor to rock and roll. You can hear a few of these skiffle songs on the Beatles Anthology, and on a bootleg recording called The Decca Records Audition Tapes.

Lennon started a skiffle group in Liverpool in1956 that was very briefly called the Blackjacks, but changed the name to The Quarrymen before any public performances. After Lennon recruited his art school pal Stuart Sutcliffe to the group, they tried the name the Silver Beetles and other variations, before finally settling on The Beatles in August 1960 when they first performed in Hamburg.

He loved music, and when the skiffle music craze started in England, John became caught up in it and started his own group. Skiffle was a very primitive type of rock music, with only guitar and drums, if a drummer could be found.

There was a craze in Britain in the late 1950s, called "skiffle"; amateurs played folk music on homemade instruments, or whatever they could get. Lennon and his friend Peter Shotton started such a group, and named it after their high school (Quarry Bank Grammar School), hoping to get to play at school events. Lennon and another boy played guitar, Shotton played washboard (stroking it for an elementary rhythm), and other friends played banjo, tea-chest bass, and drums. Paul McCartney joined that group the next year, and George Harrison followed later. When skiffle died out, they changed to playing rock-n-roll.
Like him. The first born Julian Lennon, looked somewhat like him, and his second child Sean Lennon looks like him too, but just an Asian version
