In Europe 240 volts is standard, so no a 115 volt motor will not work. In USA 120 volts is standard, so if your sub-panel has 120 volts, (check with voltage meter) then yes. Read carefully, To get 240 volts in a sub-panel in USA the electric company brings two (2) wires, each wire has 120 volts, 120 + 120 = 240. One of those 120 volts will run your motor. Look for the wires from the electric company and check them with your voltage meter. If this is a commercial application you will need to call an electrical contractor, power companies for commercial applications do not follow the above.

Can a 110 volt motor run on 240 volts without damage?

No, unless the motor was wound for dual voltage operation, which it will state on the motor nameplate, a 110 volt motor run on 240 volts will be damaged.

Can you run a double phase motor on home 220 volt system?

If you mean a dual voltage motor 120/240 then yes these will operate on a 240 volt home distribution system.

Will a 115 volt converter from 240 volts harm a 110 - 120 volt appliance?

The appliaance is designed for 110-120 v so if it is fed at 115 v that is quite OK.

Will splicing a 3 wire 240 volt compressor with a 4 wire 240 volt male end damage compressor motor?

It could if you don't get the terminals and motor wires on the correct terminals.

Can you use a 240 volt pool pump on normal house power?

Most typical US residences have both 240 and 120 AC voltage. The pump would have to tie into a 240 volt breaker in your electric panel. To ensure safety have an electrician familiar with pool installations install the wiring and motor/pump and also make sure that the breaker is sized for the motor amperage rating. In many pool installations a separate electric panel will be installed outside near the pump and any pool electric devices.

How do you install a switch for a 240 volt motor?

Use a DPST - A two pole switch.

How can you connect a 120 volt motor to run with 240 volt?

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hz supply service.Use one leg of the 240v and the neutral wire. Most electric dryers run the motor this way. The heating element is 240v but the motor is 120v.NO, THAT IS DANGEROUS ADVICE because a 240 volt service has a circuit breaker which is sized for the current draw of a large 240 volt appliance, so it would have a rated amperage that is too high to protect a 120 volt motor running on its own.Only 240 volt appliances such as dryers, air conditioners, etc. are safe to use on 240 volt circuits. As always, if you are in doubt about what to do, the best advice anyone should give you is to call a licensed electrician to advise what work is needed. Before you do any work yourself,on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances, always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized.IF YOU ARE NOT ALREADY SURE YOU CAN DO THIS JOBSAFELY AND COMPETENTLYREFER THIS WORK TO QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS.

What is the maximum volts that can be used on a 208 230 volt motor?

You should not go above 240 volts for that type of motor.

How many amps does a 240 volt and 8 hp motor draw?

You have 380 volt electric motor 3 phas 7.5 kw you want to chang it to 240 volt can some one hepl pleas?

That's a powerful motor, and would need a supply greater than 13 amps at 240 volts, also the conversion might be difficult. I have a feeling that you would be better off finding out how powerful a motor you would need for the task you have, then buying a suitable 240 volt motor. You are heading into territory where you should really consult a qualified electrician.

What happen Two identical 115 volt light bulbs connected in series with 240?

When two identical 115-volt light bulbs are connected in series to a 240-volt supply, the voltage is divided equally between the two bulbs. Each bulb would receive 120 volts, which is higher than their rated voltage of 115 volts. This excess voltage can cause the bulbs to overheat and potentially burn out quickly, leading to a failure of both bulbs. Thus, it's not recommended to connect them in this manner.

Can you use 240 volt 3 phase to run a machine that is 240 volt single phase?

Yes, if the motor is rated 240 volts 3 phase. There is such a thing as 240 volt 3 phase power. However if you are asking if you can use 240 volts single phase on a three phase motor, then the answer is no.
