FOR SURE AROUND THE Missouri / Arkansas BORDER THERE COULD BE SOME SINCE ARKANSAS HAS ALLIGATORS IN ALL IT'S COUNTIES. SO WHO IS TO SAY A FEW COULD NOT PERIODICALLY CROSS THE BORDER INTO MISSOURI. AS FOR CENTRAL MO, THAT WOULD BE MUCH HARDER. AND WHY WOULD THEY? THERE IS A LOT OF WILDERNESS IN ARKANSAS THAT THEY COULD MOVE AROUND THERE WITH OUT GOING FURTHER NORTH INTO COLDER CLIMATE LIKE MO. I CONTACTED THE MISSOURI CONSERVATION DEPT AND THEY SAID THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY VERIFIED NATIVE ALLIGATORS LIVING IN THE WILD IN MO. THE ONES THEY HAVE FOUND THEY SAID WERE PROBABLY SOME ONES PETS THAT WERE RELEASED INTO THE WILD. HOPE THIS HELPS, DANNY CHRISTY, LPC. (BOATS12003@Yahoo.COM)

Can a crocodile be a landmark?

Crocodiles are usually landmarks in the continents where they are most abundant and noticeable, Africa for the Nile subspecies, and Australia for the saltwater subspecies. But around North, Central, and South America, the American subspecies is not as landmarked because it is not a man-eater like its Nile and saltwater relatives. Instead, North, Central, and South America is often based around the American alligator and several subspecies of caimans.
