hey I'm not positive but I believe that Cystic Fibrosis is autosomal. My reasonning for this is that there seems to be an equal number of females that have cystic fibrosis as there are males. I AM NOT POSITIVE.
Dominant - everything is dominant apart from diseases such as malaria, cystic fibrosis
Assuming that each parent is a carrier for cystic fibrosis (has the genotype Ff), the probability that their second child will develop cystic fibrosis is one fourth. The probability doesn't change with the number of children they have. For each pregnancy, the chance that the child will have cystic fibrosis (have the genotype ff) is exactly the same.
Cystic Fibrosis is inherited as a recessive trait. This means that both parents have to carry the allele for the defect. Both parents are Cc which means that 25% of their children will be CC (homozyous dominant and will not be able to pass the recessive allele in subsequent generations, 50% will be Cc(carriers) and 25% will be cc (homozygous reccessive and have Cystic Fibrosis).
Yes, cystic fibrosis is a candidate for gene therapy. Gene therapy offers the potential to correct the underlying genetic cause of the disease, which is a mutation in the CFTR gene. While there have been some promising developments in gene therapy for cystic fibrosis, further research and clinical trials are needed to fully assess its effectiveness.
A person who has inherited an autosomal recessive disorder will have two copies of the mutated gene, one from each parent. This results in the individual expressing the disorder. Symptoms can vary depending on the specific disorder.
It is autosomal recessive and it is not a disorder! Cystic Fibrosis is a disease.
