No, darkness does not exist. It is just the absence of light.

Actually, I would argue that darkness DOES exist, although not in any material form, just as light exists, but not in any tangible way. If you turn out the light in a room, then you are surrounded in darkness; it is actually real for you, as in, something you must deal with in a practical way (you need to see to live) and so, does exist. As opposed to an imaginary friend, say, which does not have any physical effect on you, in the real world, as the absence of light does.

No, darkness does not exist. It is the absence of light. Darkness can`t be measured Light can be measured and broken down. The Law of Physics.

Dark matter is inferred to exist because?

Dark matter is inferred to exist because of the gravitational effects it has on visible matter in the universe. Observations of galaxies rotating faster than expected and the bending of light around massive objects support the presence of dark matter. However, dark matter itself has not been directly observed or detected.

What is the opposite of Dark Energy?

There is no opposite of dark energy in the sense that there exists something that is the exact opposite of dark energy. Dark energy speeds the rate of expansion of space, even empty space, and gravity, mass, or matter causes the opposite in that it causes a decrease in the rate of expansion of space in areas that have matter.

How is the energy distributed in the universe?

The energy in the universe is primarily distributed across three main components: dark energy, dark matter, and ordinary matter. Dark energy, which comprises about 68% of the universe's total energy content, is thought to drive the accelerated expansion of the universe. Dark matter accounts for about 27% and plays a crucial role in the structure formation of galaxies and galaxy clusters. Ordinary matter, including stars, planets, and interstellar gas, makes up only about 5% of the total energy density, highlighting the dominance of dark components in cosmic energy distribution.

How are dark matter and dark energy similar?

No, at present dark matter can't be used as energy. However, when Marco Polo went to China he observed the them burning black rocks (coal) for heat. This was an unknown and unexpected source of energy in Europe at the time. Undiscovered sources of energy are by definition presently unknown.

Do scientist think that dark matter and dark energy exist?

Yes, they do.

Why dark energy and matter does not obey standard physics and chemistry?

Standard physics and chemistry are based on the energy and matter that we know. We do not know much about dark energy or dark matter, but only that it may exist.

What have Astronomers have been unable to prove that what exist?

'Dark matter' and 'dark energy' have not been observed or proven yet.

Is it true that most of the both the mass and energy in the universe may take forms that you are unable to detect directly?

Yes, that's quite true! For more information, read sources such as Wikipedia on "dark matter" and "dark energy". Current estimates are that something around 68% of the mass-energy in the Universe is in the form of dark energy; 27% is in the form of dark matter; and about 5% matter of known types. Nobody really knows much about "dark energy" or "dark matter" - only that they exist.

Which is thought to be more prevalent in the universe dark matter or dark energy?

Dark energy. The current estimates for the distribution of mass/energy in the Universe are approximately: 68% dark energy 27% dark matter 5% baryonic (i.e. "normal") matter

Can Astronomer's directly detect dark energy and dark matter?

Dark matter and dark energy have NOT been detected yet, so any ideas about detecting dark energy and dark matter, whether it be directly or indirectly, is speculation for now.

Can energy exist without matter?

Yes, energy can exist without matter. Energy is a distinct concept from matter and can exist in various forms such as light, heat, motion, or sound. In the absence of matter, energy can still propagate and interact with its surroundings.

What percentage of the universe is dark matter?

Roughly 70% of the Universe is dark energy. Dark matter makes up about 25%. The rest, everything on Earth, everything ever observed with all of our instruments, all normal matter - adds up to less than 5% of the Universe. That is, with the knowledge and the proof that both dark energy and dark matter exist rather than inferences.

Compare the amount of visible matter in the universe with the total amount of matter and energy?

Can dark matter be used as fuel for energy production?

Dark matter cannot be used as fuel for energy production because it does not interact with regular matter in a way that can be harnessed for energy generation.
