With any food, and air, small amounts of bacteria are present. When you put anything in a sealed container for too long, the bacteria will continue to grow and then multiply faster as humidity and decay starts occurring.

Also, even though plastic bags seem air-tight, microscopically, air can slowly work it's way in. A plastic container will simply slow the rate the food will deteriorate, it won't stop it.

Why should you stop using plastic bags?

Plastic bags are made out of non-biodegradable substance.(not organic)Because they are durable they do not rot. Scientist believe that it would take up to 1,000 years to break down. In that time plastic bags separate into smaller toxic particles that contaminates the soil and even waterways. Even if we try to burn them, it pollutes the atmosphere Each year, an estimated 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are made worldwide. That means that 1 million plastic bags are made each minute, but then billions end up as litter each year. Making plastic bags can lead to exhaustion of oil, because to make a lot of plastic bags, we need a lot of oil. If we reduce oil we could save much more oil. You can actually drive about 460 meters with the oil which is used for only one plastic bag. Plastic bags even kill a lot of marine animals. Plastic bags gets blown into the ocean and floats around like a jelly-fish. A lot of sea-creatures choke and die for mistaking them as their food. Each year, thousands of sea turtles choke on plastic bags after mistaking them for jellyfish, their favourite food. Even other sea critters like sea lions and dolphins have also been found with their stomachs filled with plastic bags!

What happens if sperms are stored in plastic bags?

They will die within hours. Then they'll either dry up or start to rot and smell real bad.

Do plastic containers rot down?

No, plastic containers do not rot down. The process of rotting involves biological decomposition by microorganisms, which does not occur with plastic materials. Plastic containers can break down into smaller pieces over time through processes like degradation and fragmentation, but they do not rot in the traditional sense.

Is rot bacteria or fungi?

Rot can be caused by both bacteria and fungi. Bacterial rot is typically caused by species such as Pseudomonas and Erwinia, while fungal rot is commonly caused by species such as Botrytis and Rhizopus. Both types of rot can damage food, plants, or other organic material.

Why do food substances wrapped in polythene do not rot?

Food substances wrapped in polythene do not rot primarily because the plastic creates a barrier that limits exposure to air, moisture, and microorganisms, which are essential for the decomposition process. This lack of oxygen inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi that contribute to spoilage. However, while polythene can extend the shelf life of certain foods, it doesn't prevent spoilage indefinitely; some items may still degrade due to other factors like anaerobic bacteria or chemical reactions.

What is a nonbiodegredable materials?

if it is non-biodegradable it means that if left in a landfill site it will not rot away naturally for years like the old plastic bags, most plastic bags these days are biodegradable however. Hope I helped

It does rot as per me. I have never seen a plastic gets rot

Does condesation cause vegetables to rot?

Yes, condensation can definitely cause vegetables to rot or spoil more quickly than they normally might. To help keep your vegetables fresher for a longer period of time, remove them from plastic bags and keep them in the crisper of your refrigerator.

Does fast food rot faster than regular food?

Fast food has something in it that doesnt make it rot

Why is it bad if you dispose plastic?

Plastic, especially those used in packaging do not rot back and form any improvement to the land or its environment. Many land fills are now at maximum with waste like plastics that don't rot or cannot be recycled with virgin materials to make new plastic products. Many positive countries are placing an emphasis on recycling hard plastics which can be reused and are fighting to take this material away from landfill, there are some that are even now starting to find ways of recycling some of the millions of plastic carrier bags that are dumped but these are in the minority.

Why plastic bags should be banned?

1.They use up natural resources--"Every time we use a new plastic bag they go and get more petroleum from the Middle East and bring it over in tankers," said Stephanie Barger, executive director of Earth Resource Foundation in Costa Mesa, California. "We are extracting and destroying the Earth to use a plastic bag for 10 minutes."2. They harm wildlife and marine life-plastic bags are now in all places in our environment, and animals, on land and water, are getting choked, strangled and killed by them.3. They create litter-Aside from polluting beaches and waterways, plastic bags blowing around streets in China are so common they've earned the name "white pollution." And in South Africa, the bags littering the countryside are called "national flowers." In some African areas, people are even "harvesting" the plastic bags to make bags, hats and other crafts.4. They take a long time to biodegrade-Most plastic bags used either end up as litter or in landfills (less than 1 percent are recycled). In a landfill, it's estimated that one plastic bag takes about 1,000 years to biodegrade. A plastic bag floating around as litter takes about 20 years.5. They can be hazardous to humans -- Plastic bags pose a suffocation hazard to people, particularly children, and pets. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (C.P.S.C.) receives an average of 25 reports each year in which a child has suffocated from a plastic bag.6.
