First question is how new is the motor or car? If it is fuel injected and has a computer, you don't. If you have a points distributor and a carb. then it's easy. If you have a separate coil, usually close to the distributor, just run a hot wire the the plus side of it. That's the same as turning the key on. If you have an HEI type, run the hot wire to the back right hand side terminal as you look at the end of the block on the distributor where the wires plug in. I think that should make sense. If it is a factory distributor, it should have Batt. stamped in the casing above the terminal.
The two wires coming from an ACCEL distributor typically connect to the coil. One wire is for the ignition power source, while the other wire is for the tachometer. It's important to consult the manufacturer's instructions or a wiring diagram to ensure proper connection.
You can hot wire a boat. It just matters what type it is.
If wired correctly the red wire will be hot, but any wire can be hot regardless of colour if done incorrectly.
In electrical wiring, the live or "hot" wire is typically brown or red, the neutral wire is typically blue or black, and the ground wire is yellow or green. So, in this case, the brown wire is likely the hot wire, the blue wire is the neutral wire, and the yellow green wire is the ground wire.
You have a 3 way switch. Your black wire is the hot wire. Your green wire is the ground wire. Your red and white wires go to the light and other switch. You should have gotten a wiring diagram with your switch.
where does the hot wire come from going to the distributor on a chevy 350
Bad coil? Bad rotor? Bad distributor? Bad distributor Cap? Bad coil wire?
look on the distributor cap, there is a slot marked "tach", connect the hot wire there and ground the other wire
Question is confusing. Original wiring, power to the plus side of the coil, minus side of coil to the distributor. If you have put an electronic HEI distributor in then eliminate the coil and take the plus side wire and connect to the HEI.
The coil is inside the distributor. There is no coil wire. The coil is inside the distributor. There is no coil wire.
Check the hot wire coming from the distributor and coil to make sure it is not going to ground
The coil wire runs from the coil to the center of the distributor cap.The coil wire runs from the coil to the center of the distributor cap.
Yes
It is a brown wire connected to the distributor.
Maybe try putting the distributor wire back on and see if the jerking stops.
Assuming you have an older vehicle with points, the wire from the distributor goes to the neg side of the coil.
what is the plug wire placement on the distributor cap of a1996 gmc 4.3 v6?
