How do you get pictures of the Milky Way galaxy?

So two questions in one.

1. The best place to get pictures of the Milky Way is to go to Google images and type Milky Way. Or for a great picture see related link.
2. Parts of the Milky Way Galaxy are visible from Earth, but when you see a picture of the complete Milky Way, it's just an artists rendition of what the Milky Way Galaxy should look like, based on local observations and looking at the Andromeda galaxy, which is very similar to ours.

There are no photos of the Milky Way taken from anywhere outside the immediate vicinity of

the sun, i.e. the solar system.

Any image you've ever seen that presents our galaxy from another angle is an 'artist's conception' ...

a drawing created from the knowledge of the structure of the Milky Way based on scientific observations

gathered from earth and its neighborhood.

when you look up into the night sky most of what you see is the milky way.. but apart from that some of the stars you think you are seeing are also other galaxies. But each way you look you are looking at the milky way, its where we live.

To capture pictures of the Milky Way galaxy, you need to find a location with minimal light pollution, use a camera with manual settings capable of long exposures, and a tripod to keep the camera steady. You can increase the chances of capturing the Milky Way by shooting during new moon phase and adjusting your camera settings to a high ISO, wide aperture, and long exposure time.
