ive just started my own saltwater tank myself, and my alkalinity is at a 5, well im tryin to get to a 3.5 or 4. from whut ive been told by alot of local pet stores, and Vets Pets, one of the best stores for saltwater, that the best way is to do a water change. anywhere from 10to 25% depending on the size of the tank.
For example sodium carbonate is an alkaline salt.
No, salt does not lower the boiling temperature of water. In fact, adding salt to water increases its boiling point. This occurs because the salt disrupts the formation of hydrogen bonds between water molecules, making it harder for them to escape as vapor.
You put this in care of fish so i assume that you are trying to put it in your aquarium and I say do not do this. Table salt contains iodine which is poison to fish. I recommend using marine salt for any aquarium purposes. But it will dissolve
well for something to freeze it has to be 0 degrees or lower which is what ice is, frozen water. so the water has to be 1 degree or more to NOT freeze so the ice is colder than salt watercoz salt water is not frozen... does t6hat make sense? Actually, salt water CAN be colder than ice because the salt lowers the freezing point of the water.
Salt will lower the freezing point of water. So, "pure" water freezes easier than salt water.
you cant lower the general harndess of a saltwater aquarium. Why would you even want to?
You can raise a sea urchin in a salt-water aquarium. There are no fresh water sea urchins so you would need a salt-water aquarium to properly care for the urchin.
killing germs.
Soda ash raises both alkalinity and pH in fresh water; I would assume the same in salt.
for a aquarium what I do and im kinda new is take out a little water and add fresh water. Has to be fresh water from store that has reverse osmosis if I spelled it right. Make sure when you remove water to check the salt level.
Aquarium salt is manufactured for different reasons than making your aquarium the perfect environment for salt water fishes. You may use it in an emergency, but long term is harmful to your fish. Marine salts contain the necessary salts and minerals that fish need are the best salt to use.
Underwater sea animals live in salt water
For example sodium carbonate is an alkaline salt.
No you don't.
they need dechlorinated fresh water, and dechlorinated salt water made with aquarium salt.
You would pour an acid into the water to create a salt which makes the water more neutral.
You should ask this question in the 'salt water' section.
