First and foremost you should look at the nameplate. If the nameplate is unreadable then you will do no harm plugging it into a 115 volt supply. If the motor looks like it is running at full speed then it is a 115 volt motor. If you plug it in and it looks like the shaft is turning at about half speed then it is a 230 volt motor. If the motor is running slow don't leave it plugged in for more that 15 seconds. Find a 230 volt supply and plug it in, it should run at the right speed. If you have a shaft tachometer use it on the end of the shaft to get an accurate rotation speed.

The above prompted comparison with another motor, with the same RPM rating, allowing a simple feel of the shafts for a close speed match.

The help is appreciated.

How do you change 115v to 230v?

You can use a voltage converter or transformer to change 115V to 230V. Make sure to select a converter or transformer that is capable of handling the required voltage conversion and power load. It is always best to consult a professional electrician for safe and proper installation.

You have an old Gould 2hp elect motor that you want to switch from 230v to 110v The existing connections do not match directions in earlier question and suggested 110v connections differ from mtr diag?

2 HP, A-C Single phase, 115/230 volt motor. And you wish to operate it on 115V. First the circuit size would need to be a min. of 30amp/ #10wire.... Being a Gould is this a pump/motor? I ask because single phase pump motor are not reversible, so they have less leads to connect..Is the motor thermaly protected (check name plate) Again less leads to connect if not therm-protected. How many lead motor is it, and what are the leads #. If it is 4 leads and # t1,t2,t3,t4 connect line1 to t1 and t3 connect line2 to t2 and t4. Let me know what the # are and how many leads their are.. I would not operate a motor that large on 115V, (1HP is about max on 115V)

How many amps is 2 hp at 230V 3 phase?

6,25AnswerWithout knowing the efficiency of the motor, it's impossible to tell. The horsepower rating of a motor describes its output power; you need to know its input power in order to calculate its current.

Can you use a 115 unit in a 230 plug?

No, it is not safe to use a 115V unit in a 230V plug as it may damage the appliance or cause a safety hazard. It is important to match the voltage requirements of the appliance with the power supply to avoid any damage or potential accidents.

Will a 220V 60Hz Air-conditioner run safely at 230V 50Hz?

It is generally not recommended to use a device designed for 220V 60Hz on 230V 50Hz, as the difference in frequency can affect the performance and efficiency of the air conditioner. It is best to consult the manufacturer or a professional electrician for guidance on compatibility and potential risks.

What is the voltage on an indoor fan motor for a package ac unit?

The voltage for an indoor fan motor in a package AC unit typically ranges from 115V to 230V, depending on the specific model and design of the unit. Most residential package units use 115V, while some larger or commercial units might operate on 230V. Always consult the unit's specifications or the manufacturer's documentation for accurate voltage information.

Any advantages in wiring a single speed pool pump 230V vs 115V electrician says cheaper to wire 115V?

Your electrician is correct on this. However, the pump is designed for 230V and will use less electricity, thus saving money if wired for 230V. Yeah, if you have to rewire for 230 V then it would be more expensive until your savings had consumed or offset the expense.

Will a 15A 115V air conditioner work properly in a 15A 230V air conditioner electrical outlet?

Absolutely not.

How do you change 115V to230V Gould only has 5 terminal?

To change 115V to 230V using a device with five terminals, you can use a step-up transformer designed for this purpose. Connect the primary side of the transformer to the 115V supply, ensuring that the appropriate terminals are used for input. The secondary side will provide the 230V output. Ensure that the transformer is rated for the required power and that all connections comply with electrical safety standards.

How many voltage does an air handler use?

What happens when a 230V dc series motor supplied by 230V ac?

it will not run

Why will your outside compressor for your central air unit come on but the fan motor will not come on and there is a gurgling sound coming from the furnace?

If I understand your question correctly, your indoor fan motor is the one not running. If that is the case, the gurgling sound you are hearing is the refrigerant being pumped into the indoor coil. You need a new motor. If this is a gas furnace, you need a 115V motor; if it is a heatpump, you need a 230V motor.

Is 115 v good for home theater?

If you live in an area that uses 115V as the mains supply, then it's absolutely fine. Equipment sold in the area will be designed to operate on that voltage and there is no difference in performance between 115V equipment and 230V equipment.

Can you plug a 50hz 230v refrigerator to a 60hz 230v supply?

It is not advisable because the motor would run 20% faster which might produce damaging overpressure in the thermal circuit.
