It concerns the one this writer is most familiar with. The two horrific world wars in the 20th century were wars the US believed it could avoid. And because no one has a crystal ball on the future power of weapons, the geographic position of the US would seem to be a strong barrier to becoming involved in the world wars. The vast expanse of the oceans separating the US with Asia and Europe seemed to be barriers allowing the US to remain neutral. As it turned out, it did not. However, historians note that the US entry into both wars were "late" compared to other nations.
