There is no single official roadway.
One branch goes west through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana, and then Alaska.
(5 US states). A similar path, following the Can-Am Highway, goes through Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, and North Dakota (then Alaska), which is 7 states.
A different branch goes up Interstate 35 through Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Minnesota (then Alaska), which is 7 states.
Interstate 10 (I-10) passes through eight states: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

The Tropic of Cancer also is called the Northern Tropic. For it's found in the Northern Hemisphere. Therefore, the only Latin American countries through which it may run are the eight countries north of the Panama Canal, and south of the United States. Of those countries, the Tropic only runs through Mexico.

One route Pan American Highway
NH7, or National Highway 7, is primarily located in India and traverses several states. It starts in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and passes through states such as Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu. As of my last update in October 2023, the highway connects multiple states, but the exact number of states it passes through may vary based on any changes in the highway's designation or routing.
The Pan-American Highway passes through several capital cities across the Americas. Notably, it traverses 16 capital cities, including those of countries from Alaska in the United States to Ushuaia in Argentina. The route varies in different sections, and not all segments are continuous due to geographical challenges, such as the Darién Gap between Panama and Colombia.
US Interstate 90 is the longest continuous highway with the same designation in the US, stretching across the continent from Massachusetts to Washington in the northern US. It passes through 13 US States and is a toll road in many locations east of Illinois. The non-interstate highway that goes through the most states is US Route 60, which runs from Virginia on the Atlantic Coast to Arizona, where it is supplanted by Interstate 10 for the rest of the way to the Pacific Ocean. It crosses 9 US States.
The Dixie Highway originally spanned across 13 states in the United States. It connected the Midwest to the southern regions, primarily running from Michigan down to Florida. Over time, its route has evolved, and various segments have been designated in different states. Today, it mainly includes parts of states like Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois.
The Inter-American Highway is the Central American section of the Pan-American Highway and spans 3,400 miles (5,470 km) between Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, and Panama City, Panama. So about 3400 miles form just south of the US border to Panama City near the canal.

As of October 2023, there are 13 state capitals in the United States that do not have an interstate highway going through them. These capitals often rely on U.S. highways or state routes for access. Examples include Montpelier, Vermont, and Dover, Delaware. The absence of an interstate can affect transportation and economic development in these cities.
American Samoa is a country in itself, and is a Trust Territory of the US. It does not have States like the United States.

Impossible to drive it all the way through. The southernmost section of the north end of the Pan-American highway ends at Yaviza, Panama. As far as I know, there currently are no services to transport a vehicle from Yaviza to where the highway picks up again in northwestern Colombia.
